What are some of the things that we can expect to see less of and more of in the next 5 years?

At one time mom and pop music stores were common, and now it is difficult to not only find local music stores or a large selection in big box department stores like Best Buy. They have given way to music download sites like Yahoo, iTunes, and amazon.com.

We can expect eBook bookstores to increase their offerings and appeal versus traditional paper bookstores. Online learning environments being utilized more than traditional classrooms, land phone lines will likely yield to VOIP cell phones. TV sets may be replaced by an increase in media devices.

Why do see this transition happening within the next 5 years?

All of the areas that I described earlier currently exist. What will occur in the next 5 years is that what currently exist will become more efficient and prevalent. Google is releasing a device they call Google TV which integrates traditional television with search features, apps like what you find on your phone, and internet access. E-book readers like the Nook, Kindle, and Reader by Sony all make carrying your library around with you easier and convenient. Apps for your cell phone like Skype and VOIPbuster allow you to make phone calls over the internet without being tethered to your home. Finally, from k-12 to the collegiate levels online learning platforms which allow learning institutions to accommodate more students efficiently.

How do you think these changes will be accepted?

I think that some will seamlessly adapt the changes whiles others, maybe some older generations will have to overcome a slight learning curve, but overall I think that the changes will become the new norm, until the next new norm.
