What is the first free feature?

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a phone nowadays that does not have internet access. That is not to say that every phone has it enabled, but the option is there. This is important because a feature/function known as tethering. Tethering is when a phone is connected to another device to share the internet access. The process of tethering has been around for a few years. Recently the trend has been to tether and create a hotspot to share internet access with several devices.

Many newer phones include a feature that allow tether, and some even offer tethering with hotspots. The rub is that now carriers are charging for use of the feature. Applications like MyWi allow you to tether your phone to devices and circumvent the carrier costs associated with tethering.

What is the next feature?

The next feature that many people can benefit from is the ability to sync information with your computer without the need to physically connect it. Syncing is when the information from multiple devices or files are compared and the most recent versions are saved on all devices. Syncing over a wifi will make updating files and information easier.

What is the final free feature?

The final free feature is the ability to print from your phone. Dropbox is an online application that allows you to not only print, but also sync and share files all from online.

Why are these features important to those who do not have a smartphone?

The thing to keep in mind is that the features in smartphones today will become the standard features in most phones tomorrow. So you if this doesn’t apply to you yet, eventually it will.
