The Toshiba Thrive is my first official "Recommended Gadget". I know that the iPad is the market standard, but it is also a very polarizing device. Many people are either card carrying fanboys or they see the iPad and Apple the Anti-Christ in carnate. I on the otherhand exist in the amorphish area in between, but that is an article for another day (Perhaps on April 13th, the internationally recognized anti-Apple day). I digress, the Toshiba is a true techie's tablet.

First of all, you have control of it physically and operation systemically (not really a word). I like that you can change the battery on this device without voiding a warrenty or having to take it to a bar of geniuses. Also, it has enough device ports to make it a viable replacement for a laptop. It runs on Android so you can download apps (generally speaking Android has more free quality apps than Apple's Appstore), and I like the customization features in Android.

Now for what the haters will say. The Thrive is bulkier than most tablets on the market. That the 6-7 hour battery life of the Thrive does not compare to the lighter, longer lasting batteries on other tablets. Also, that they will point out the obvious; that the Thrive lacks the stylish sleekness of the iPad and therefore is not an iPad.

I recommend it because this device is highly user scalable, and can be purchased online for nearly half of what the iPad costs. Remember I.T.S.I.S. (It's The Same Internet Stupid)
