I guess that I shouldn't be surprised. Morpheus tried to warn us that we would be used as batteries. Well I guess that we aren't being put in pods, having a simulated reality piped into our cerebral cortex while our life force is drain to power our mechanical overlords. What is happening is that there are more ways to generate power via normal human movement and motion. There are even methods to generate power from your body temperature.
